In honour of Singapore’s sixth president, Mr S R Nathan, who died in 2016, Singapore University of Social Sciences’ (SUSS) School of Human Development and Social Services has been renamed the S R Nathan School of Human Development.
President Halimah Yacob, who is now the patron of SUSS, officiated the renaming at a ceremony held recently.
President Yacob said that the school’s programmes are especially important for Singapore as society ages. She said that the new name recognises the potential impact of the school’s academic programmes and research.
Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Social and Family Development Faishal Ibrahim also attended the event.
