NorthLight School has changed the lives of students and influenced Singapore’s education system, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Wednesday (Sept 21) at an event to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
“It has helped us rethink how we should develop a school’s culture, and how teachers relate to students and to the curriculum,” he added.
This year, about one-third of NorthLight’s graduates have progressed to the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Fourteen went on from ITE to polytechnics, and so far, three have graduated with polytechnic diplomas.
The school’s principal, Mr Martin Tan, said: “The students appreciate their teachers who go the extra mile to help them feel accepted and believe in them. The culture and environment in NorthLight provides for an encouraging and motivating climate for students to do their best.”
