Full-time national servicemen under the work-learn Cyber NSF scheme will now be able to pursue part-time tertiary studies in Information Security at the National University of Singapore.
NUS has entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Defence to implement a scheme where NSFs can attend classes even if they have been deployed in operational roles.
This scheme is similar to one inked between MINDEF and the Singapore Institute of Technology in 2018.
At SIT, there have been four intakes of around 170 cyber specialists to date, with the pioneer batch graduating from the 35-week Cyber Specialist Cadet Course last August.
With MINDEF’s new agreement with NUS, NSFs will now be able to earn academic credits by taking modules from the NUS School of Computing’s Information Security programme. They can expect to graduate from university at the same time as their peers from the same national service cohort.
