Byte Academy Singapore, which opened last November, has terminated its registration with the Committee for Private Education. This is due to the fact that its New York-headquartered parent, a programming school specialising in financial technology courses, has closed its doors.
Byte Academy Singapore was a training partner under the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) Tech Immersion and Placement Programme, an initiative to help train non-ICT (information and communications technology) professionals to make a career switch to the ICT sector.
The school had guaranteed students a refund of tuition fees if they could not land a job six months after graduating from its full-time courses.
However, coding schools General Assembly and Alpha Camp said they are planning to stay put. These two school are also part of the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s Tech Immersion and Placement Programme.
