Applications for direct school admissions (DSA) to secondary schools and junior colleges has already commenced, whilst early admission applications to polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education will start in June.
The DSA allows students with skills, talents, and achievements that go beyond academic grades to pursue higher education. Secondary school students will still have to satisfy the minimum grade requirements for the Express, Normal (Academic) or Normal (Technical) streams respectively. For junior college students, their GCE O-level results must meet the eligibility criteria of a gross aggregate L1R5 score of 20 points or better.
Under the DSA scheme, students are expected to commit to developing their specialized talents in the chosen area.
All five polytechnics are also participating in this year’s Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise.
Early admissions applications for the polytechnics and for ITE need to submit portfolios and undergo interviews and aptitude tests, where they will be expected to demonstrate exceptional talents in areas such as leadership, community service, sports or arts.
