Students who took the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma examinations in Singapore last year performed well, with a pass rate of 97.32 per cent, and 57 students achieving the maximum possible score.
Schools in the Asia Pacific region received the results last Wednesday.
The average total score in Singapore was 38.27, higher than the global average of 29.21 and the Asia Pacific average of 34.82.
In percentage terms, Singapore had 61 per cent of the top scorers last year.
Twenty-two institutions here offer the IB diploma, such as Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and St Joseph’s Institution.
IB students take six subjects and Theory of Knowledge, a course that combines philosophy, religion and logical reasoning. They also study a second language, do research, write a 4,000-word essay and take part in a community-service project.
