In the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings, both the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have improved their rankings from last year.
Times Higher Education evaluates universities against 13 performance indicators, including research, interaction with business, international outlook, and teaching environment.
NUS was placed 24th this year, rising by two positions, whilst NTU was placed 54th, rising one position.
Spokesmen from from both universities have attributed the gradual improvement of rankings over recent years to the growing quality of the faculty members and the impact of their research.
Mr Phil Baty, editor of the Times ranking, said that Singapore has introduced powerful policy drives, backed by strong funding, to produce world-class universities.
NUS president Tan Chorh Chuan said he is pleased that NUS is continuing to do well. He said that NUS will continue to focus on nurturing future-ready graduates and pursuing research excellence.
