25 August 2016
On the 19th of August this year, seven people were awarded the Foreign Service Scholarship by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Three of the MFA scholars received the Singapore Government Scholarship administered directly by MFA, while four were awarded the Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan reminded scholarship recipients that the scholarships represents a commitment to serve the nation, and that it was a matter of honour to complete one’s bond. He also said that foreign service officers have a duty to put in extra effort for Singapore as we are a small country which needs the world to know that we work harder than everyone else.
In July, the Auditor-General’s Office had found that the Ministry of Education (MOE) did not do enough to ensure that foreign scholars at local universities here completed their bonds.
