The NUS High School of Mathematics and Science has won the fourth round of the Big Quiz, a current affairs contest jointly organised by the Straits Times and the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by the Singapore Press Holdings Foundation.
The contest is part of an outreach programme to promote interest in current affairs among pre-university students. In each round of the quiz, four teams made up of Singapore junior college students compete with each other and one junior college is crowned the winner of that round.
A contestant from the NUS High team said that the experience was “enriching, unexpected and rewarding.”
The winning team in each round will be given $600 in shopping vouchers while the rest receive $150.
Straits Times senior correspondent Goh Eng Yeow gave the keynote address for this quiz. He spoke on oil prices and the impact on the economy.
